This session is for schools and educational settings and offers guidance on Emotional Based School Avoidance (EBSA) and its close connection with teen mental health and overall well-being. It provides insights into supporting young individuals who are challenged with EBSA, drawing from evidence-based practices associated with positive outcomes.
In the session, you can expect to understand how EBSA develops and progresses in teens; what the likely teen mental health outcomes might be if EBSA isn't addressed; what schools can do to support parents that are willing to engage through EBSA with a teen who is school avoidant; ideas on how schools can work with and support families who maybe enabling EBSA in their teen and how schools can support a teenager whose education has been disrupted due to EBSA.
