Supporting a teenager who self-harms can feel overwhelming. Panic, fear, and confusion often cloud the way forward, leaving parents unsure how to respond and afraid of making things worse. In this session, we speak with the author of \*When Teens Self-Harm, \*a clinical psychologist with years of experience working with young people and families, about how parents can move from fear to calm, and create a safe, validating environment.

We’ll talk about why some young people self-harm, how to support them without judgement, and how to manage your own emotional response. We’ll also discuss how parents can talk to their teens schools, and how to shift from solution oriented to being fully present when your teen needs you most.


How you can help a Teen who Self-Harms

Consent isn’t just about saying “yes” or “no.” It’s about understanding boundaries, your own and other people’s, and building the confidence to communicate clearly, respectfully, and safely. This session is designed to help parents understand how teenagers learn about consent, where they might get confused, and how we can guide them to form healthy, respectful relationships so that all young people stay safe.


A question of consent: Talking to your teen about sex

This session explores how ADHD shows up in teenagers and how parents can best support their child through adolescence and beyond. Sarah-Jane will look at how to tell whether behaviours are linked to ADHD or something else, the potential impact on academic performance and friendships, and why getting a formal diagnosis can be so helpful. She’ll also share guidance on supporting your teen’s mental health and wellbeing as they grow into adulthood.


Understanding your ADHD Teen

Vaping has become the most commonly used substance among teens, with 95% of 15–18-year-olds saying it's widespread among their peers and 70% naming it as something causing real problems. Alongside vaping, cannabis, alcohol, and edibles are also increasingly part of teen social settings, especially at parties and gatherings.

This session helps parents understand the real risks, evolving trends, and pressures teens face today. We’ll talk about how social media, curiosity, and peer dynamics all contribute, and why over 50% of teens say pressure is a key reason for substance use. We’ll also break down what “social supply” means, and why sharing a substance with a friend could have serious legal consequences.
