No matter what type of site or product you work on, there’s one universal challenge: helping users quickly and easily find what matters most to them.

Whether it’s products in an ecommerce store, events on a community platform, or tours in a travel app - discoverability is key to both user satisfaction and business success.

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll take on the role of the UX and research team for Explore City, an app that connects users with local tours and experiences. After a major expansion, Explore City now faces the challenge of helping users navigate an overwhelming catalog of new content to find the perfect experience.

Together, we’ll learn how to use card sorting and tree testing to organize content effectively, improve navigation, and create a seamless user experience.

What you’ll learn:

  1. The importance of information architecture – Understand how behind-the-scenes organization impacts user success and business outcomes.
  2. How to conduct a card sort with Lyssna – Gain hands-on experience running card sorts to reveal how users naturally categorize and think about content.
  3. How to refine navigation with tree testing – Explore how to use tree testing to identify pain points, validate structure, and continuously improve the user journey.

What you’ll do:

  • Step into the role of Explore City’s UX design and research team.
  • Organize a growing catalog of tours and experiences through a guided card sort.
  • Participate in a live activity to gather user feedback.
  • Analyze and synthesize results into actionable recommendations.
  • Observe a tree test and learn how to use results to refine your navigation.

Who should attend:

This workshop is for researchers, product designers, UX designers, or anyone responsible for organizing content on a site or app.

If you’ve ever asked yourself, “Where should we put this?” or *“How do we make this easier to find?” *— this session is for you. You’ll leave with practical tools and strategies to improve navigation, enhance discoverability, and create a better user experience.
